Hendricks Heart Hospital Design Garners Awards
The recently-completed, state-of-the-art Beloit Hendricks Family Heart Hospital was honored by the Wisconsin Chapter of American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) at the organization’s 2018 Design Excellence Awards on March 8. The project was presented a Gold Award for the interior design of the space.
The 35,000 sq. ft. renovation, completed in 2017, accommodated two additional cardiologists and an interventionalist clinical space and relocated the existing clinic to the northwest wing. A hybrid operating room (OR) and cardiac catheterization lab were added, along with a 14-bed intensive care unit (ICU), pulmonology services, a stress test room, and a nuclear camera. In addition, new energy-efficient windows were added to enclose original sunporch areas.
Designers thoughtfully created spaces to meet the needs of the continued growth of the heart and vascular service programs at the hospital. The result is an atmosphere that was designed to be calming and spacious, created with the use of meandering curves aiding wayfinding and utilizing clean and timeless finishes. The design team created a care environment that supports patients, families, staff, and physicians. Inspired by Beloit Health System President and CEO Timothy McKevett’s vision of capturing “memories saved” through interventional care, a memory wall of community-contributed pictures fused into decorative glass creates a vivid first impression to the Heart Hospital.
“We are so very proud to provide the area with the best cardiac care in an atmosphere that is calming, soothing and above all healing,” says McKevett.
The Hendricks Family Heart Hospital, occupying the 4th floor of Beloit Memorial Hospital, provides comprehensive cardiac care – from diagnosis to rehabilitation – in one convenient location.
